'Managing the Professional Service Firm' is a must-read for the mid-to large size firm. Covering topics from business development to hiring to board structure, this is the essential textbook for the leaders of such firms.

That said, this book wasn't particularly useful for me right now. My firm is in its "scrappy little startup" phase. We're a long way from using point totals to determine partner compensation or holding alumni parties for those who went out instead of up.

But I'll be hanging on to this one. If we grow, we're going to need 'Managing the Professional Service Firm.'
