A round of editing could have redeemed this book. The concept was great, but the rambling sentences really had me not giving a fk what they were trying to say, before I'd even gotten to the end of them.
This is the 2nd historically acclaimed short story that has left me dissatisfied this week; maybe something about the nature of publishing short fiction in magazines just isn't for me. It's as though I can feel the author fluffing the story to meet a word quota rather than just telling the story? Such a let down.

I didn't realize this was the inspiration for Haunting of Bly Manor! The run-on sentences are a bit of a slog, but my curiosity to compare the story to the show is helping to push me along.

You know those people who say not much of anything with a whole lot of flowery words to try and prove how smart and special they are? This story was the embodiment of that person. Did you get picked, sis?
I'm a bit disappointed, to be honest. I remember loving Poe when I was younger; is this story a weak one or was i just trying to be edgy at the time?
