Finished Chapter 1 of I Have Loved Strangers…… not a fan so far. I don’t know if I just don’t ✨get it✨ or what. It says you don’t necessarily have to have read the book of Jeremiah in the Bible, but I feel like that context might help. The entire chapter has the energy of “The Tower of Babble” from the Godspell 2012 revival. And that’s NOT a compliment. Hoping it gets better/more comprehensible as I keep reading.

Full disclosure, I read this PURELY because I was auditioning for a production. But it’s so beautifully written, and humanizes these very real women who were part of this. I know it takes a lot of liberties with timelines and such (Charlotte only worked at Radium for about a year, not several as this plot suggests), but it’s still SUCH a good play. You really feel like the girls form a little sisterhood, and they lean on each that when they decide to go up against Radium. Made me mad at corporate America and men😅 Absolutely stunning.
