An introduction to Literary Fiction, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

A collection of the pilot books for popular series, for those of us who love to follow a character's journey for as long as an author will let us! Some of the below series have heavily debated starting points and book read orders--in those cases the pilot was selected based on what seems to be the most popular approach.

I really enjoyed King of Scars. In the second part the storyline was a bit repetitive (to the Shadow and Bone trilogy). But Nina's storyline is the best

Okay, so we all have that one book or series that we aaaabsolutely LOVE that no one we know has read it or even heard of it! I wanna know what it is, and who knows, maybe someone here has read it and you can make a new friend!?
Mine is The Banned And The Banished series by James Clemens. All time favorite series, no doubt about it or questions asked. It's. So. Good! It has everything you could possibly want in a book and the twists and turns and there's things that happen in the first book that don't get resolved till the last book. The books are so intricately woven its a masterpiece....AND NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD OF IT!!!!

I'll use my last read as I don't have a current read at the moment. The MC kind of inspired the question as I was thinking over how much I kind of hated how "above it all" he thinks of himself. Granted, he did recognise out loud in the book that this disdain comes from his insecurity and lack of self-esteem, but it didn't make it any less annoying.
I feel like that kind of attitude shows up in a lot of contemporary novel protagonists. Their voice particularly, where they position themselves as sharper than everyone, making snarky observations about people in a way that should show their worldly insight but only comes across, to me at least, as being mean to be superior. These people are hard to please, so what kind of book would they even like? And that sort of led to asking, would Dan like the story of his own life and how it was written?
Anyway, I think the answer would be no. He would probably make fun of the MC who peaked in gifted and talented classes only to work in an admin role. And he would definitely make fun of the prose for trying too hard to sound funny, in a cool detached way.

helloo everyone!! I'm kinda trying to be more comfortable on here, and making this post is a step towards it (I don't usually do posts on socials lol). I got a bit of courage after reading some other posts: everyone seems so sweet and kind!! a thing I'm curious of is, how many books can you read contemporarily? I have a friend who's reading five, another who only reads one at a time, and I myself read 2-3 books together (usually a physical one, an ebook and often a fanfiction, if it is long enough)

Fictional books that feel like a warm hug, featuring magic and whimsy and perfectly happy endings. These are lower on stakes and higher on good vibes!
