If any of you manage to finish this book without cursing or crashing out, I give you a standing applause.
Entrok realistically depict how hard it was becoming a woman in a countryside of Indonesia; being oppressed, limited from any opportunity, forced to be ‘dagangan’ so men will be interested to marry you, and the list go on. Even when you become a successful business woman, all you get from your neighbor is a side-eye and bad rumours behind your back.
Frustation is an understatement to explain how I feel throughout the story. Marni is all alone fighting the world, and Rahayu only care about the said world that’s hurting her mom. No matter how hard I’m trying to see Rahayu from different perspective, I can’t find any sympathy for her.
