Yosemite Search and Rescue: The Mafia Years
Tim J. Setnicka
Over four million people a year visit Yosemite National Park and most have a safe park experience…. but some will find themselves injured and in great danger and some will die. Veteran, now retired Park Ranger Tim J. Setnicka in his second book, describes what it was like to be involved 33 different rescue and body recovery events in Yosemite National Park.
Also included is his first hand experiences and involvement in dealing with the crash of a plane carrying tons of marijuana during the winter of 1977 in Yosemite's backcourty in Lower Merced Pass Lake, or as it is now known, "Dope Lake."
With more than 150 color photographs, taken during the actual rescues, he describes in detail 33 different operations and their particular hazards and difficulties.
Each situation is accompanied with actual rescue photographs taken during rescues.
