Intimations of Paradise: Photographs by Christopher Burkett
Christoper Burkett
Imitations of Paradise is a collection of the work of Christopher Burkett. Filled with exhilarating, exuberant, and worshipful photographs of landscapes, Burkett shows why he is one of the premier color photographers of our time. Three essays by James Reid, Vincent Rossi, and Christopher Burkett complement the photographs, examining Burkett's work from three different perspectives. Also included is an introduction by James Alinder.
Fine Art Photographer Christopher Burkett has devoted the last 25 years of his life to the creation of this book. It is a book that reclaims the belief that there must be craftsmanship in great art, that there is great art in craftsmanship, and the belief that God truly is in the details.
For the last 25 years, Burkett has captured exhilarating, exuberant and worshipful landscapes, with a clarity and brilliance that have established him as one of the premier color photographers of his time.
Christopher and Ruth Burkett self published this book to ensure the highest quality reproduction possible. Burkett spent over 2 years perfecting the color separations for the 73 images featured in the book. The separations are scanned from original prints, and after two years of work, are “as close as you can get with ink and paper” to the original photographs. The result is a book that truly reflects the color and detail of his original photographs.
