A gingerbread man shifter never tasted so sweet.
Rory is a shifter that owns a lot of bakeries, but he never thought that his most recent business purchase would lead him to his fated mate. With his mind set on not having a mate, and his attraction to Blaze very much real, he finds himself at odds with himself. And when the council steps in and reveals their knowledge of his secret curse that he possesses, he will do whatever it takes to protect what he loves.
This book was quite the read. It’s not “Christmas” per-say, but it had elements of winter that I couldn’t help but sneak into my Naughty or Nice Holiday list.
I couldn’t stop laughing at the start of this book. The fact that Rory was cursed to shift into a gingerbread man when he sneezed had me in stitches. It was so insane that I shared it with my little smut book club of friends. This was really something I have never seen, and never thought I wanted to read about. Plus, who wouldn’t like a sugary smelling mate that also tasted good?
Now, while I enjoyed the fresh shifter type, I was bummed a little when the story did a quick 180 on me. It could be because I have not read the other books in the series that came before it, but it just was a fast change-more so at the end of the book. I get that it is supposed to be short and a quick read, and there is more to the story in a later book, but I felt it was a little lacking in its fluidity towards the end. Maybe I just wanted more answers to the questions that I had about the story, even though I was able to follow the story pretty well. I just don’t like not knowing things, and that’s on me… Guess that’s the way the cookie crumbles…
I did truly like the book overall though. And I think I may find myself reading the series just with the uniqueness in the odd shifter curse and the curiosity of the whole council thing. So, I give the book 4 phases. It had me laughing and intrigued. Even with a few minor issues I had, I loved the concept of this book. Besides, cookies are a girl’s best friend. How could I not like this book?
