This is the wonderful book I've waited so long to get and when I finally did, thanks Flipy, I couldn't resist and attacked it right away.
Admitting I knew the follow about it: it was set in World War 2, a German soldier and a French girl were the protagonists. That was all I knew and was more than enough to sell it to me. (Also... The cover was stunning!)
All The Light We Cannot See is the appropriated title for a book that opens a new precedent on the historical fiction novels that use this gruesome period of history as their setting. We get a new specter of information when the important military figures are relegated to background noise and the humble people that don't even deserve a footnote in books try to carry their normal lives in the mist of turmoil and pain.
The writing style is melodic and pleasant as the short chapters alternate between characters points of view of a nazi Germany and an occupied France.
This, by far, was one of the best reads of this year and deserves all the praising it got.
