This book is the full, non edited, version of the Diary of Anne Frank written in the small annex while hidden during WWII.
I had high hopes for this novel and I was not disappointed. It's so interesting to get into such a young a mature mind, the mind of an incredible Anne Frank. And it was so interesting to read feelings and raw emotions of a teenager during such a hard time. But the most incredible aspect is the fact that she never gave up hope, no matter how hard things got. I'm not sure how she managed to do that.
The most surprising aspect was how none of the occupants of the annex lost their minds. They fought, even about silly things, but always made the effort to recover the connection. It was hard picturing the awful conditions they lived in and the hardships of war.
The end is heartbreaking, specially because I now how the story ends. The only solace I can find is that in the end, she got her dream even if she never lived to see it come true. A must read for everyone.
