this just felt so dull and boring compared to the other dear america books. the characters don’t feel like real people like they do in the other books and just feel lifeless.
also the general vibe towards slavery and the confederacy felt off…like reading this as an adult i obviously can distinguish what the book character feels is right vs. what is actually right but i fear that without other context it might go over the heads of children. especially when so much focus is put onto how the north is killing and hurting the south and almost no emphasis on how brutal slavery was
