When a devilish lord and a bluestocking set off on the road to ruin... time is not on their side. Minerva Highwood, one of Spindle Cove's confirmed spinsters, needs to be in Scotland. Colin Sandhurst, Lord Payne, a rake of the first order, needs to be... anywhere but Spindle Cove. These unlikely partners have one week to • fake an elopement • convince family and friends they're in "love" • outrun armed robbers • survive their worst nightmares • travel four hundred miles without killing each otherAll while sharing a very small carriage by day and an even smaller bed by night. What they don't have time for is their growing attraction. Much less wild passion. And heaven forbid they spend precious hours baring their hearts and souls. Suddenly one week seems like exactly enough time to find a world of trouble. And maybe... just maybe... love.

Oh gosh I've read so many romance novels this year I HAVE to write a review, lest I completely forget what I thought of this and then Tracey asks me for recs and I can't tell her good from bad.
This was enjoyable! Nerdy/smart heroine (but a little "i'm not like other girls." At least she loves her sister and wants to protect her, despite her being a "beautiful normal girl") and a rakey but charming hero who is actually just hurt inside! I thought her initial attraction to him was completely realistic, and was glad that didn't ruin the building tension. They go on quite a fun adventure enroute to a science convention, and there's random stuff that happens that keeps it pretty interesting (vs. the typical HR 2 week long house party with walks and interactions in gardens.)
Good, slightly unconventional smut - not a bore at all.
Climax -> breakup -> reunion was normal.
Not my absolute favorite, but very solid read, I'll read this again in a few years!
