In her fury, she perfumes in the bridal suite and runs away. When Rook, Erain, and Teddy find out she's gone, one whiff of her delectable scent drives them crazy with the urgent need to find her and make things right. But tracking Piper down isn't easy and she doesn't find their desperate need to knot her very convincing. . . Author's This romance contains on-page cheating between the MMCs and OW and a very high level of 'writhing in agony' groveling and sad pitiful begging. I can’t emphasize enough how much this book would benefit from at least two or three more rounds of editing. The tense shifts between present and past at random (sometimes within the same sentence) which breaks immersion and at times makes it hard to follow the story. The pacing also feels uneven and rushed. I’m genuinely not exaggerating when I say that a hallway smeared with cat poop gets more page time than the entire wedding. The worldbuilding wasn‘t fleshed out very well, and especially in the beginning there was a lot of info dumping, while neglecting to tell other parts of the world. Like the fact that the characters are shifters, which isn’t even mentioned until well into the book, and it then doesn’t seem to have any impact on the story. The MMCs feel like exaggerated caricatures and are practically indistinguishable from one another. The FMC, while not a doormat (which I appreciated), doesn’t feel like a fully developed character either. Her only consistent trait seems to be stubbornness, and even that lacks nuance. The humor didn’t land for me. It mostly relied on “random thing happened, now laugh!” moments, which didn’t really work. There is plenty of groveling, which is something I usually enjoy, but here it didn’t carry much emotional weight. The MMCs cry, howl, and drop to their knees a lot, but there’s little real effort shown in terms of growth or understanding her on a deeper level until the VERY end. They repeatedly say they want more than sex, but I didn’t really feel it. They claim they would’ve loved her even without scenting her, but that’s hard to believe when their initial reaction to her was practically disgust. Conclusion: With extensive editing, I think this could become a fun, lighthearted read. But as it stands, it reads like a rough first draft that really needs refinement. I was really torn on the star rating, but settled on 2 stars for potential alone. Sidenote: at one point, she gets a ring with a “knot” on it, and I pray that they mean knot🪢, not knot🍆 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
