They are idols to millions worldwide. I hear their names whispered in the hallways and blasted through the radio. Their faces are never far from the television screen, tormenting me with images of what I gave up. To everyone else, they're unattainable rockstars, the music gods who make up The Sound of Us. But to me? They'll always be the boys I lost. I broke all our hearts when I refused to follow them to L.A., convinced I would only bring them down. Years later, after I’ve succumbed to a monster, and my life has become something out of a nightmare, they are back. I'm no longer the girl they left behind. But what if I’ve become the woman they can’t forget?

I originally rated this a 3 but I’m taking this down to a 2 because the longer I think about it the more things don’t really add up and I find things that I didn’t like.
Before I get into what I didn’t like, I’ll say what I did enjoy. I loved that it’s a rockstar romance. After reading Lilac by BB Reid I’ve been on the hunt for my rockstar romances and this one is a reverse harem as well so that was exciting to find. I also like that we learn about how the characters met and we learned a lot about their relationship as teens and how they began to develop feelings for one another.
Now while I did enjoy learning about them as teens, I felt like we spent sooo much time in the past. Every other chapter is a flashback to Then and I just wanted to get on with the story. I think it can be hard to make a reader care about a second chance romance told in the present time because the reader doesn’t know what happened in the past. While I did appreciate the past I wish it had been cut down or maybe just shorter chapters. The past chapters were half of the chapters and they were longer than the present time. I just ended up not caring about what had happened.
Besides that, I think I had 3 things that agitated me about the book. There are gonna be some spoilers but like… they were the big issues I had so there’s no way I can discuss without mentioning them.
My first issue was that it makes no sense that the guys have no clue that she is not married. If they are supposedly so obsessed and still in love with her after all these years how don’t they know?? While we know that they are mad at her there’s absolutely no way they didn’t look her up in the 5 years they didn’t speak to her. Since she’s married to this wealthy guy who is very prominent in the town I also don’t believe that the news wouldn’t have made its way back to them.
The second issue was that homegirl cheats on her husband. Now he is a piece of crap and I really don’t care that she cheats on him but she could’ve at least brought this up before sleeping with one of them. And she knows she needs to tell them but oop just not the right time, like what? Girly pop you got bruises around your next which were noticed, that was the perfect opportunity. Now I know this was probably done so that there was conflict and whatnot but it was just kind of annoying.
And the last thing that threw me off was that the guy didn’t notice that she had this big fight with her husband. This kinda goes into the first chapter of the next book but in one of the last chapters we see her have this big fight with her abusive husband. During this fight he hits her and chokes her and she hurts her ankle and can’t half walk. BUT when she leaves her house ot go to one of the guys he doesn’t notice a thing. Nothing is noticed until the next day (first chapter of next book) when she’s being accused of being married… which she is and maybe that could’ve been avoided had she brought it up earlier. But anyway, you’re telling me she went to the guys house after this huge physical fight with her husband and he notices NOTHING??? She has big ass bruises around her neck and can’t half walk??? Did he keep his eyes closed the entire time or what??
Anyway those were my big issues and while I’m not one to say a story has to be realistic but like these were lowkey jarring or just annoying things from what would normally be expected. I did read the first chapter of the second book but then I realized that a majority of the second book seems to also be told from the past so I don’t know if I’ll continue. Like I wanna see what goes down but I don’t know if I have the energy to keep reading about their past.
