    The Human Target is terrific.

In this '60s noir mystery and multiple Eisner Award winner, Chris Chance is The Human Target. A master of disguise, he works as a body double for people who think they're assassination targets. It's a simple pitch: he takes the bullet, so you don't have to. One day, he takes a bullet for Lex Luthor. That's fine; that's what he does. But it isn't the bullet that gets ya. It's the slow-acting poison.

Now, Chris has twelve days to figure out who killed him and why. To find the answers, he's going to make some powerful enemies - and some delicious allies.

This is the good stuff. One can imagine Robert Mitchum playing Chance, had the former been alive during the prestige streaming era. The artwork, spare yet beautiful, sells the vibe the writer is going for, and the series has me so invested that I not only did I order the second book immediately after finishing the first, but I put this volume in the hands of the nearest son. I encouraged him to read it, then pass it along to the rest of my sons. I think they'll love it as much as I did.

And who knows? I might use this comic to get them to try a Robert Mitchum movie on for size. That'd be a jackpot.
