I want to say that I was capable of understanding every single part of this book, but sadly no. The main part, the story about Saladin and Gibreel was well written and it hit me hard. Immigration, political issues, racism and much more problems are told in such a human and hard way that is hard not to feel it as a personal problem.
Now, my main problem with this was the side story that was happening with Ayeesha. I couldn't understand the mythology part of it and it was never explained. That made me feel lost in many parts and was the reason why it took me so long to finish.
It was a great book, I totally understand why it was banned, its a fierce critic to religion and social standars.
