    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Despite being 20 books in at this point, I am still enjoying this series as much as when I began reading them all those years ago. The established characters remained true to themselves and continue to be written in a way that allows a reader to easily connect. The main plot itself was a good one, I enjoyed the various directions it took without being able to predict many of them, and I didn’t feel like the ending to it was rushed like Patterson books sometimes tend to be. The side stories were interesting. I particularly enjoyed Joe’s, it was nice to see a bit more of him and his skills as well as learning a bit about his past. I also liked Yuki’s story, however felt that it was forgotten for a large portion of the book. While I was disappointed in the previous instalment around the lack of mention of both Yuki and Brady and Cindy and Rich’s relationships, this novel definitely makes up for that, with each couple have several chapters dedicated to their personal lives. Additionally, while it was nice that Jacobi made a small cameo, it would have been nice if he played a bigger role given how prominent his role was in the past. I also recall the previous book ending with a mention of Joe’s older daughter Francesca who had come to visit however there was not a single mention of her anywhere in this story. Overall, I enjoyed this novel and I am looking forward to reading instalment 21.
