Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling. Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He's exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard. Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family's massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who'd been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he's never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe's so tempting he's willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office. As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they're willing to lose in order to win each other. Originally only available online as The Office by tby789 — and garnering over 2 million reads on fanfiction sites — Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for re-release.

god DAMN did I devour this shit and it was a great departure from the usual slow burns I wind up reading. I will say that it is more spice than plot BUT it wasn't in a way that felt stupid. there were still definite plot and character arcs and there was some solid grumpy banter. this was a rare case where I enjoyed the dual pov and felt like it added to the story without being annoying. one thing that did irk me was the "miss/mr" through a lot of the book. we get it he's your boss but please for the love of god at least make it obviously sarcastic because that sent my cringe count off the charts. i do wish the romance was like a little sweeter earlier on and there was more HEA time at the end but overall this was very entertaining and I liked the characters a lot.

Plowed right through this steamy sexy book!

If you're looking for plenty of hot (dare I say filthy!) sex scenes, this is a great read!

I mean, it's a pretty typical plotline for a romance: hot intern and hot boss start sleeping together, and what will this mean for her future career? And can this ever become something more?

So the sex is steamy, though if you want slow seduction with dreamy gentle guy then this is not it: the intercourse is down and dirty and rough. And frequent.
Though the characters have a lot of fire and sass, there's really not much more shown to develop them, which worked for this book, but would have been nice to see. Also, I liked that they both knew their affair could ruin Chloe's career (it wasn't a huge shock to Ben). I was a little bummed that the reason she left him seemed to be that she didn't have his approval? Because she seemed in every respect to be able to stand up for herself until that point.
Also, of course it's a HEA ending but it was pretty rushed. I would have actually been kind of upset for my old boss/lover to disrupt my final presentation to change everything up, even though it was the better presentation that really showcased the work. But Chloe doesn't get upset. Plus they agree to give their relationship a try but all the concerns about how other people will view her (whoring her way up the ladder) and what this will do to her career just go out the window at the end. Yeah, she doesn't need to worry about her career because she will be working for her lover! So the ending was rushed and it was a let down for me about these slight feminist sort of things.

Also, I heard Christina and Lauren on BookHype podcast, and they were really charming and that's how I got this book recommendation. Will be getting more of their work asap!
