When I started this book I was convinced that it was going to be a great thriller. The book started out to be really good, Maisie was a strong female lead with one arm, she goes to space camp and is picked as one of the most promising students. Hale focuses a lot on the fact that Maisie has one arm, I can see where having one arm is clearly difficult but I don't think that only having one arm added or detracted anything to or from her character. Along with Maisie, there are four other kids on her team to defeat the aliens. I love the other kids on her team they were by far my favorite part of this book. They were well developed and I felt like even though they were secondary characters they were able to impact me more than Maisie did. Just as soon as this book was getting good, it got really weird. There were crazy men, aliens, and kids with amazing powers. Amongst the aliens Hale throws in a romance with plenty of teenage angst to go along with it. Parts of this novel I found to be very confusing. I'm still not 100% sure why this book is called Dangerous. I feel like this book could have been much better with a far less confusing plot. If I was going to read this book again I would but I would probably take notes along with it so that could maybe understand it better.
