Loved!! The plotline about Nick's coming out really tugged at my heartstrings (I cried lmao). The scene of him being instantly accepted and loved by his mother was beautiful and painful for me. I am obsessed with this fun and cute series :)
These books fill me with so much hope.
The words and story developed by Alice Oseman gives me a glimpse into a bright and loving future, I don’t think she realises (or maybe she does) just how instrumental these novels are in creating the future for queer literature.
Especially for younger people. I know this was life changing for my younger sibling and if I had this kind of representative when I was in high school, I’m sure it would have been the same for me too. Let alone it just being the cutest and rawest depiction of a high school romance between two (and more) queer individuals. It’s such a sweet story, but so true to life, none of the ‘bury the gays’ none of this sadness and weight in an unhappy ending. There are obviously trials, because we are only human! We make mistakes, misinterpret! But, ultimately these novels bring a realistic and beautiful love story to life that will change the way queer literature is written and interacted with and I cannot be more excited.
So please please please, read this because not only does it have important things to say but this series is also the cutest thing out there and it is just completely enjoyable and loveable and such a good read. The characters are written so fully and wonderfully, no stone is unturned. There is so much beauty in these frames that I commend Alice, always.
