Todas as revoltas contra ele falharam miseravelmente.

"Belief isn't simply a thing for fair times and bright days...What is belief - what is faith - if you don't continue in it after failure?...Anyone can believe in someone, or something that always succeeds...But failure...ah, now, that is hard to believe in, certainly and truly. Difficult enough to have value. Sometimes we just have to wait long enough...then we find out why exactly it was that we kept believing..."

I have to say, at first I was a little doubtful about this book. Everyone who enjoys fantasy sings high praisies about this series, but I had some issues at the beginning - the plot was a little slow to unravel, it took me a while to get into the characters and to understand the magic system created here. BUT, by 50%, I was completely hooked in and THE ENDING WAS DEVASTATING. It was explosive and amazing and now I can totally understand why people love this book and Brandon Sanderson so much. The world building is amazing, the magic system, though a bit complicated, is really interesting and different, and all the characters are complex and likable. I really, really enjoyed it, and can't wait to pick up the sequel. But, although it was amazing, I had to took out half a star, because of the things I mentioned above that hindered my read at first, and the fact that were some repetitive parts in the middle that could have been cut off without compromising the plot, and how some things could have been sped up a little - sometimes the plot took a while to move along and it bothered me a little. Still, I'm hooked now and can't wait to read the rest of this trilogy and other books by this author!
