I loved it. It was hard to get into the world at the beginning because it was so different but once I did it was great. I saw the plot twist coming a mile away but still really enjoyed them. I will be continuing the series.

    3.5 stars

-This wasn't really what I was expecting, I'd thought it'd be a more direct Cinderella retelling. But this was still a cool concept!
-The plague elements weren't super fun to read about in 2021, but oh well
-I thought the whole cyborg = second class citizen didn't make any sense?? And neither really does the 'manipulate bioelectricity' part. Just call it magic and be done?

If Cinder manages to be the best ever at her powers, and if she learns them overnight, or because of her genes is like 'the only one' who can be a match for the Queen, I'll roll my eyes hard enough to make them fall out.

-Prince Kai and Cinder were a bit safe and predictable, but I was still liking them and rooting for them. The doctor character was interesting to me, I want to get to know him better
-Multiple times throughout was the INFURIATING literary device of beating around the bush--when a character with vital and urgent information faffs around wasting time--if it was plot delay to increase tension that's one thing, but that was a major annoyance for me.
    - I definitely wanted more world building too--it's the future, there's tech, there are MOON PEOPLE, there's history and wars that've happened, where was the New Beijing culture or flavor??

-I did like this book it was fast paced and pulled me along, but it was predictable and in many ways I wanted a lot more from it. Also, it felt like set-up for the rest of the series. But I do plan to continue reading the series.
