Men Morrigan?

A fun and colourful adventure with a similar style to Harry Potter. It's about a girl of 11 years who has a curse. Her family situation is very sad. Her mother is gone, and her father and his new wife do not care for her at all. One day she is invited into Nevermoor, to be a part of the Wundrous society. But she first has to get through several trials and beat hundreds of other contestants that wants a place.
I enjoyed myself. It's got a lot of fun happenings. It feels really magical. There is the dark element of the Wundersmith, but mostly it is about Morrigan experiencing a bunch of magical things, such as large cats that can speak, dragon acrobatics, umbrellas that open doors, and a yearly competition between saint Nicholas and the Yule Queen. Among a bunch of other stuff.
It is a little dark, with Morrigans family situation, and the Wundersmith, and some chapters such as when they are supposed to see a bunch of scary stuff and prove their courage. But it's not that dark. I would say, it is on Harry Potter book 1-2 level. Younger children can read this without it being too scary.
The only thing I felt could have been handle more was the things that were explained in the end of the book. I felt like I would have like a whole other book for that. It felt very rushed, and I did not understand Morrigan's reacting, well no I did understand it but because it had not really been explained that thourough it was not proportionate how she reacted.
A bunch of stuff is also very easily solved, but as it is for a younger audience I'm gonna give it a pass. At least most things made sense and nothing was thrown in without an explanation.
So, this was a fun adventure that I think children 8-13 would enjoy.
