The tease of a romance between Megan and Brady has been woven throughout the last few books in this series. It’s been a bit more subtle than some of the others that were previewed before the actual pairing, but it was there. Just like those hints, the unfolding of the Megan/Brady romance was a slow roll. It gently built upon itself with each passing week and each passing event in their friend’s lives.

Megan has been around but we never got to know too much about here other than she owns the local bakery and loves her job so much she even spends her free time baking. We still don’t get to see as much of Megan as we get to delve into Brady’s issues, but there are a few things that come out that make my heart break for the woman. She’s such an upbeat and positive person despite her relationship with her parents. I love how patient she is with Brady and how she goes with the flow for the most part. She understands Brady’s reluctance and doesn’t pressure him.

It’s due to Brady’s hesitation that I feel this story unfolded in a more natural way than most HEA stories tend to do. Sure, we get to see sparks every time Megan and Brady are together. They even both internally admit the other makes them feel like they’ve never felt. But outwardly they play it cool. Just like I think things would go in real life. It’s really quite beautiful.

Although Brady is quite a closed off guy, he didn’t really make me mad until the end. The conflict you know is coming if you’re a regular reader of HEA. Brady was harsh! I know he had to be, but daaaaang! Poor Megan.

Now I have to wait 3 more months before the next book is out! Ugh! I am loving this group of friends and their small town and I want to see Deacon happy.
