Terry Pratchett

‘A brand new full cast audiobook production of the classic collaboration from internationally bestselling authors Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett starring Rebecca Front as the Narrator, Michael Sheen as Aziraphale, and David Tennant as Crowley! According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner. So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon—both of whom have lived amongst Earth's mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle—are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist . . .

I think this might be an instance of right book, wrong time for me. On the surface it has everything I love - commentary on religion and humanity all tied up in British humor and satire. But after the novelty of the first 40ish% wore off, I wound up totally uninvested in the story. Once we spent too much time with Adam and his friends I just zoned out and couldn't get back to the excitement I had in the beginning. Maybe it was jumping between so many characters that all felt similar to me, or having less of Aziraphael and Crowley, I'm not sure, but I wasn't into it. I think the writing and wit is sharp, the concept is brilliant, and the commentary is thought-provoking, but I just stopped caring. I'm curious if I read it again in the future in a different mindset whether I'd feel differently.
