OVERALL: I liked the premise and the action in this book, but wanted more from both our main characters.
Content warnings: sexually explicit scenes, violence, death, blood, fire, hostage/ captive, betrayal, trauma, torture

I wanted more from both of our main characters. Carrow is described as this big party person, always wild and in jail, but we don't get to really see any of this except in passing or in dreams? I saw her as this insta-mom, as she takes responsibility for Ruby and that becomes her main drive. Even when she's busy falling for Malkom and falling in love, she's doing the mom sacrifice act and putting Ruby first. Noble, perhaps, but got in the way for me of her own development/character arc.
Malkom was interesting but also I wanted more--he brought his own baggage to the book but... was he evil? He seemed more dumb to me? I understood him feeling betrayed and liked that he wanted Carrow to do some explaining/groveling.

Their chemistry was fine, but I felt like we skipped a bunch of time when they were in the week in the demon plane--that was perfect time to develop emotions and lay out bonding, but instead there was a time jump and a couple sentences about being sexy together.
