Book 2 of the series and the people that we can trust are getting fewer and fewer. There are new characters introduced but I'm sure we know at this point we can't trust them either, no matter what they do for us, even if it's helpful.
Kestra has gone to the castle to confront Lord Endrick. When she fails with the plan, he takes her memories and gives her new ones. Now she cannot even trust herself and what she remembers.
And poor sweet Simon is torn because he believes that magic will corrupt Kestra. He doesn't know what he wants to do, but he will still do whatever he can to protect her and try and keep her safe.
