Scarlett O'Hara, the beautiful, spoiled daughter of a well-to-do Georgia plantation owner, must use every means at her disposal to claw her way out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman's March to the Sea.
Having watched the movie before I'm pleasantly surprised how true to the book it stayed. Also pleasantly surprised by how easy of a read this is. I always thought that it would be more difficult, but I think the length is the scare factor here and with how well written it is I wouldn't even say the length is a downside because I'm so immersed in the story that I barely think about what all has happened and what's to come.
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I am this far. Obviously it has its issues which are easy to see and condemn. (I mean it’s a book about like Civil War era south so it’s to be expected.) But overall the writing is really great and it feels very atmospheric. The characters all feel very alive. Great read thus far but I’ve obviously got a while to go.
