11 hours and 48 minutes What's the worst thing that can happen to a werewolf? Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz knows all too well. His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he's cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane. Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rules of her coven--no werewolves. They're known for being moody and volatile. So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she's ready to bounce him through the door. But the desperation in his eyes when he begs her to help him softens her heart and convinces her to bend the rules. What Evie doesn't know is that Mateo's wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she's in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.

(2023) pretty much still agree with my original review: liked the relationship and watching it grow, liked Alpha, liked the sisterly bonds. Overall writing was good, felt like the conflict did come out of nowhere to some extent. Could have used a little more smut, but the content that was present was excellent.

Super cute story, loved the characters and the writing. The emotional development of their feelings was there on page and fun to follow. I want to read more by this author and in this series!
I went in with high expectations and they were mostly met! The writing was fun and easy to read. I especially liked the font changes to help clarify thoughts/who was thinking.
Characters were fun to get to know and also funny! Mateo was so sweet and charming, definitely a book boyfriend, but that Alpha edge brought some heat and Alpha's voice brought heat and humor. Evie was friendly and fun and managed to stay on this side of the line of not being 'so quirky'--her nerdiness was cute and it was easy for me to like her.
(I thought her insecurities were a bit heavy-handed in the book, but I appreciated her character growth, and this was a way to show her bond with her family too.)
I wasn't *surprised* at the reveal of who placed the curse, but neither had I figured it out ahead of time, so that was a good thing for me.
Felt a little like the reveal and resolution happened too quickly/easily... maybe it was just because it was so late in the book? I wanted it to be more drawn out or have more falling action, maybe.
I also would have been happy with a smidge more smut, but I did enjoy the sexual tension that was done very well.
