Piranesi’s house is no ordinary building: its rooms are infinite, its corridors endless, its walls are lined with thousands upon thousands of statues, each one different from all the others. Within the labyrinth of halls an ocean is imprisoned; waves thunder up staircases, rooms are flooded in an instant. But Piranesi is not afraid; he understands the tides as he understands the pattern of the labyrinth itself. He lives to explore the house. There is one other person in the house—a man called The Other, who visits Piranesi twice a week and asks for help with research into A Great and Secret Knowledge. But as Piranesi explores, evidence emerges of another person, and a terrible truth begins to unravel, revealing a world beyond the one Piranesi has always known.

Wow just as I thought this whole story was going to be some bizarre allegory I wouldnt be able to follow, we get hit with some actual, grounding plot points 😱 I am so intrigued. I hope we get a satisfying explanation to this mystery; I’ll be disappointed if it’s totally left up to interpretation.

I have no idea what’s happening but apparently that’s to be expected! Getting Adam, Garden of Eden vibes. Either that or Piranesi is part of a social experiment 😅

Very original but will have you questioning what is going on the entire time.

Uhmmmm i like it for its originality. But my brain truly hurts reading this. Thankfully it’s not that long of a book. Did it get me hooked? Yes. But, would I say the book changes my life? No.

the less you know the better going into this, so all I will say is: stick with it past the first 100 pages, and you’ll be rewarded with a renewed sense of wonder and appreciation for the world
