A tender addition to the #1 New York Times bestselling Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas, bridging the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin and upcoming books. Feyre, Rhysand, and their friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly altered world beyond, recovering from the war that changed everything. But Winter Solstice is finally approaching, and with it, the joy of a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can't keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, her concern for those dearest to her deepens. They have more wounds than she anticipated-scars that will have a far-reaching impact on the future of their court. Bridging the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin with the later books in the series, A Court of Frost and Starlight explores the far-reaching effects of a devastating war and the fierce love between friends.

  • Is this worth reading?

I have read books 1-3 of ACOTAR and am debating whether to read this one or skip to book 4...heard this is in a super different style with each chapter from a character's perspective, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Help me decide!!

3.8 ***** I rated it 4 stars because I felt like 3 was too low. This was book was okay. The writing for whatever reason was kinda unbearable most times ??? Like why did she write so badly lmao. I was bored. But the reason I rated it higher than I thought is because I enjoyed the interactions amongst the characters. I liked seeing them interact with each other and I liked learning more about each one almost. I liked reading the different perspectives, that was fun. Idk, it was a quick easy read, just wished she had added a little more UMPH to it ya know

I can't say this novella was good, because actually pretty much nothing happened in it. Basically was a Christmas episode. But after how fed up I was with book 3, this more slice of life type little story actually has me back willing to open the next full book. Just out of curiosity mainly, but also because somehow by writing something where nothing happens, SJM has instilled some hope in me that a course correction might exist after the way she threw farrrr too much at the last book. So maybe some balance can again be struck. I do hate that my love for Rhys has continued plummeting with every cringy thing he says and thinks making him more and more one dimensional, and the reminder of Feyre's age gives a tremendous amount of ick especially paired with her solstice "gift," and honestly I'm worried that Nesta's portrayal here has put me off of her as well, but I do want to see more of Elaine and Azriel actually. Seeing Elaine become a powerhouse would really be incredible, I hope I get to.
