I read this thinking the next book would continue the story. But now I know it doesn't, the ending is more disappointing than when I initially finished it.

The story started out interesting, but as it went on, I gradually got the 2012 YA dystopia vibes, which is never a good thing. There was nothing surprising, and there were no plot beats that weren't expected. I felt nothing, despite the supposed high stakes.

The characters were also pretty bland. Sil is the typical badass woman protag whose character is slightly more infuriating because it took her so damn long to figure out the evil corp was, you know, evil, and Ryder is the infuriating love interest who somehow wins her over despite knowing each other for, like, a day. The other side characters are one note and not worth talking about, really.

Also, can we stop with calling people infuriating or annoyingly attractive? I've seen it so much in books nowadays it's practically become such a shit cliche.

Overall, I feel really bad about wasting a whole day on this book. Don't recommend.
