Secrets… they can make or break you. I would know. I’m hiding the biggest secret of all. My scars are so much more than skin deep. They consume me, control me. Then I meet him, Clark Jefferson. Six foot two inches of greek god hotness, with a smile that’ll make your panties disappear. He wears a clear warning label: Heartbreaker, and if I was smart I would stay away from him. With my past, my secrets nothing could ever come of being with a man like him. Still I cannot ignore the feelings he stirs inside me. He frightens me and excites me all at once. He makes me want to break free of the suffocating fear that claims my heart. Our meeting isn’t fate though, he needs me as much as I need him, and so we strike a deal. He’ll be my fake boyfriend and I’ll help him get out of trouble with his dad. But secrets can’t remain secrets forever and as I grow closer to Clark my feelings for him grow too. Soon the line between fake and real blurs and when the past I’ve been running from finally catches up with me I’ll have to confess to Clark the truth or let go of a love that was only ever supposed to be fake. **This is book three in the North Woods University Series. First of all:
Props to Beck & Hallman for writing a character who suffers from anxiety. It’s not easy to find representation for things like this. Sure, it’s a trauma / PTSD-type response, but she’s living with crippling anxiety and I felt like it was depicted pretty well.

The continuity could’ve been a smidge better, but it seemed like the authors look some liberties with this for the sake of ‘showing instead of telling’ so I’ll take it.

When I read this one, I was 3 books deep into binging this series and I mostly like it—these characters are a bit sweeter than books 1 & 2’s and the ‘mystery’ a little less obvious. The misunderstandings were less stretch-y, etc. Overall, pretty well-played.

Some of this one even made me laugh … if you’ve read book 2, picture Ava about to ‘rearrange someone’s face’ in standing up to a bully/ for a new friend. This whole scene was fun!

Oh! And towards the end, I couldn’t help but notice the Corium crossover—absolutely loved this.
    Overall: 4 stars.

It’s likely I’ll read on in this series.

    Audio:
Both of these narrators continue to sound great and I’d definitely listen to either of them any time. I do appreciate the perfect sound quality as well. 5-star performance, 5-star production.

My least favourite out of the series. I wanted to read a dark romance not be depressed. Good going Clark it's a pity I hate your book circumstances.
