A really short story about an odd transformation. Kakfa is by far, not my favorite author. His writing style is heavy and not easy on the eye. Nevertheless, this is one of the best stories I read by him.
As for themes, I could glance some references to feeling overwhelmed by worked, disapointed with your career path, apathy, even a glimpse of depression and frustration. I feel many working adults could relate to this, when you have so much work and you feel so overwhelmed that your whole life is just working, you start wondering if it is worth in the end. And Kakfa is able to translated it well into Gregor.
If you want to get a glimpse on the author, this is a good introduction. Final rating: 3,25 stars.
