I love Jennifer's books. And this may have even been a five star book if I didn't have the Ascendance Trilogy to compare it to. I know it's not fair, but as one of my favorite trilogies, I can't help it.
This didn't have the twists and turns and surprises I've come to love in her books. Rise Of The Wolf had it, so I was expecting just a little bit more from this one. I still REALLY loved it and thought it was a great conclusion, but it didn't have the epicness of the final scenes of Rise Of The Wolf.
Crispus is my baby, and I CALLED it. No spoilers. But I called it. He's a doll. Love him and Nic. I got a little annoyed with Aurelia who was so USELESS. Every time she was like, "I won't leave you! I can help!" All she did was get in the way by constantly being kidnapped and threatened and forcing Nic to have to make decisions to save her ass. I feel like she wasn't like this in the previous two books, so that was a bit disappointing.
Overall, definitely a great series that I really loved. Didn't make its way into my favorites like the Ascendance Trilogy, but still a great read.
