This novel was enjoyable. The story was well written as were the characters, however I wasn’t able to emotionally connect with them on a deeper level. I have not read the preceding book in this series and, while doing so would have made understanding the references to that story easier, I don’t feel it was essential. The references to the characters pasts within this book made enough sense without knowing exactly what had happened previously. I like Dylan Reinhart, he is a good main character with the age old dilemma between work and family. His background in psychology brings a different edge to his character that many other CIA/FBI/PD characters don’t necessarily have. I was expecting more from Elizabeth Needham throughout this story. She was built up to be a main character yet I felt there was a large section of the book where she wasn’t there or even mentioned at all. That made it difficult to get to know her properly and get a real sense of her friendship with Reinhart. Overall, I liked this novel, the plot had me hooked, and Reinhart made a good main character that I would happily read more of.
