With war on the horizon, Lia has no choice but to assume her role as First Daughter, as soldier—as leader. While she struggles to reach Morrighan and warn them, she finds herself at cross-purposes with Rafe and suspicious of Kaden, who has hunted her down. This was a little harder, I think the rift between Rafe and Lia was frustrating. I felt that Lia wouldn’t give anything and Rafe wanted to give everything. The relationship feels unbalanced.
I really enjoyed it though I like the direction she took with Kadens story.
This was the conclusion I was anticipating for this series. I felt like I knew most of the decisions the character were going to make but I still enjoyed reading through their thought process. Characters forced to make hard choices that finish up their character development, and well of course a war. Definitely thought this book would be more battle heavy but I enjoyed a slower pace in the beginning. This series learned from the Hunger Games, Mary Pearson created a character that was not only the face of the revolution but the architect and gave the readers a real romance to root for. This series was a binge read for sure and I am happy to keep it on my shelf for when I need to get out of a slump.
