Most of the stories in this collection are thematic aberrations for Christie, many with a slightly mystical or supernatural tinge. They're not to my taste and not what she does best. Ultimately rather forgettable.
The audiobook version was excellently read by multiple narrators, including the inimitable Hugh Fraser, though it was amusing to hear the voice I grew up knowing as Hastings speaking for Poirot in "The Mystery of the Spanish Chest" - particularly when half that story seems to be Poirot lamenting Hastings's absence. Well-read all around, though.
