As with the last one, a mix of ups and downs and of course, its going to depend on your reading preferences.
1. Birthright 2/5
For me this comic picked up in the last panels and could have done without the whole devastated family panels. Someone previously stated that it's a bunch of jump scares and I couldn't agree more. The idea of some corrupted dragon slayer is cool, but as much as I understand humanizing influences, this isn't it. If I sympathize with the family, I don't care about the dragon slayer bit. If I like the dragon slayer bit, the family seems erroneous.
2. Bitch Planet 3/5 This would normally be a whole 2 for me, but since I sympathize with the point its trying to make and the way it's written it gets another star. I would read a second issue of this, but... I might lose interest depending on how the story went.
3. Copperhead - 2/5
I feel like I watched this show already in When Calls the Heart. Also I understand the degradation of underlings is a cop trope, didn't make me like it better.
4. Descender 5/5
Totally hooked me. Would read more, already going into my to-read lists. Grand tragedy turned to Grand Adventure with protagonist child robot you're obviously geared to like. No pun intended. Interesting potential plots. Yup. I'm sold.
5. The Humans 3/5
Motorcycle gangs.... except monkeys? And the king is... undead monkey? I mean there's something here, it's just not for me.
6. Nowhere Men 4/5
Rock-n-roll scientists are obviously assholes, but that makes me more invested in the plight of the people trapped in quarantine. Wouldn't say no to reading more.
7. Ody-C 4/5
I do enjoy Matt Fraction and the art is both beautiful and disturbing at once. It's an all female reimagining of the Odyssey (duh) in space. I am curious at the reimagining. Wasn't super sure why we were spacing people. It wasn't exactly a feature of Odysseus. Not that he didn't get a bunch of his crew killed. Would read. Be aware of the womb imagery and the dude in latex because reasons.
8. Sunstone 3/5
3 for the art. Largely this is HEY LOOK WE'RE LESBIANS! Written by a dude. If you are looking for a lesbian bondage comedy, then... this is it? It's not bad.
9. Wayward 3/5
There's a reason her hair is orange and she's in Japan. Promise. She's just half irish. Yup. And that being said I'd probably still sit down and read multi-colored hair girls kick supernatural turtles asses. So I'm just being fair. I'd do it.
