I was there. I saw what you did.BlaiseI wasn’t supposed to be there that night, but my friend Sienna talked me into going to the party in Land’s End so she could spy on her boyfriend. While hiding out in the woods, we witnessed an unspeakable crime. And we did everything wrong afterward.Connections run deep in our small town.I was pressured into keeping my mouth shut, even though every part of me objected. I assumed I’d always do the right thing in any situation. I was wrong about that and a lot of other things.I was wrecked by what I saw and how the victim was treated by kids I’d known all my life. I’ve been sick over it ever since, even as I moved on, far away from the town where I was raised.Fourteen years later, I learn that the guy who committed that unspeakable crime is running for Congress, and something in me snaps.I can’t bear the weight of that knowledge for another second. Finally, I report what I saw, and all hell breaks loose for me and others who were at that long-ago party. Some of them will do whatever it takes to keep the truth from coming to light…even if they have to kill me.In the midst of an epic battle, a new love gives me the strength to stay strong, to fight for my life and to right a terrible wrong.Content A sexual assault storyline may be upsetting to some readers.

    In the air

This is a sort of cautionary tale of what to do after witnessing someone you know SA a girl right in front of you and have to lie about it. About the moral implications and guilt knowing you did that girl wrong. And about speaking the truth no matter how long it takes, every detail matters.

Obviously please make sure you read the trigger warnings for this book. It happens right in the beginning and the rest of the novel are the repercussions of that decision. You also get the girls POV after (which multi POV was not something I expecting) and multiple relivings of it. Made me even cry a bit which is impressive!

This is a great book to encourage other women in the me too movement to speak up no matter how long it's been! We can't let these men get away with their actions anymore. Especially when people are banning abortions and making it a crime.

It is good to see the rapist get what he deserves in the end and seeing his whole world fall around him over the accusation and proof. It's so frustrating seeing people WITH convictions getting away with running for congress. That's how u know this book is fiction (sad)

That ending was... interesting. Taking a scissor to a few loose ends was definitely a choice. But Ryder being "I've found god in prison" literally made me laugh out loud. He doesn't get an out as easy as that for me. He better stay in prison. Also why does every person have a significant other and 4 children? Nuclear families are all the rage I guess just got quite repetitive after a while.

Also this is a bit of insta love (is a month insta love?) and the stakes aren't as steep but reading sonething this thought provoking is a step in the right direction!
