Victoria K. Taylor has done it again! A Throne of Frost and Flame is an absolute masterpiece of world-building, character development, and heart-pounding action. From the very first page, I was completely immersed in the breathtaking landscapes, intricate magic, and rich lore of this world. Taylor’s writing is so vivid and immersive that it feels like stepping right into the story. Picking up right where A Throne of Ash and Shadow left off, this sequel expands the world in thrilling ways. We journey to new territories filled with danger and intrigue, navigate court politics rife with betrayals, and face off against dark creatures and deadly assassins. And if that wasn’t enough, war is on the horizon, raising the stakes even higher. One of my favourite parts of this book was Deya’s growth. Her transformation from a healer in Praiton to a formidable leader is both compelling and inspiring. The character development is phenomenal, not just for Deya, but honestly for the entire cast. The relationships in this book, whether romantic, platonic, or familial, are beautifully explored, adding so much depth and emotion to the story. Beyond the action and intrigue, this book is packed with everything I loved about the first one: witty banter, found family, and high-stakes adventure. But now, with epic battles and even more flawless world-building. I’m absolutely hooked and can’t wait to see how Deya continues to navigate her journey. If you love fantasy with stunning world-building, unforgettable characters, and a perfect balance of romance and political intrigue, this book is a must-read!
