As a pirate, I tend to hang out with unsavory outcasts at the edges of the known universe. I’m used to running into thieves, assassins and fugitives. It shouldn’t surprise me to see a forbidden human female for sale in the tunnels of the space station, but I hate it. When I see she’s near death, I have to act. I buy her. She spits in my face. It’s love at first sight. At least, it’s love at first sight on my end. I know it can never be, though, because I’m an ugly beast of an alien to her. The enemy. If only she knew just how many laws I’d be willing to break for one taste of her lips…

This felt even less memorable than the first one
I like seeing a medical main character, it was nice to have him be so upfront to her about helping her too. Him patiently and consistently showing how he wouldn't hurt cat was adorable and so sweet and important
I like that Cat took initiative to try to earn her place on the ship, and that Tarekh let her be helpful too. There was something about the transition of feelings on Cat's part that wasn't amazing?
I thought it was good / interesting to show a captive who had been abused / hurt-- often I feel like these books open with a person who is yet to be harmed and saved in the nick of time, which has never struck me as very realistic
I thought it was interesting to gender swap and have the main male character be the one who thought that they were ugly and needing reassurance by the female main character
In the end I liked how much cat trusted him, to even agree to go to a bar with a collar on to be able to have sexy foreplay there. I thought it was a fun element to make Tarekh be a slob, this was a characteristic to help him stand out. Some reviewers complained the pace was too slow/ it was hard to accomplish a slow burn in so few pages. I agree that I wanted more book, but also I liked him pining without pressuring, and to allow Cat to come around at her own pace
