År 1929 lanserade Stalin kollektiviseringen av lantbruket, något som kan beskrivas som den andra ryska revolutionen. Den tvingade miljoner bönder att lämna sina gårdar och inordna sig i kollektiv. Resultatet blev en katastrofal hungersnöd, den dödligaste i europeisk historia. Svälten slog till ögonblickligen och människor började äta allt de kom över: gräs, bark, hundar eller lik. "Röd hungersnöd" är ett skakande och vederhäftigt vittnesbörd om de människor som dukade under och om de som kämpade för att överleva denna ohyggliga ondska.

Really interesting and well-written book about some of the history between Ukraine and Russia.
I had to skip some parts since it goes into depths of how the people were starving and being treated by Russians. It got to real, so I could not read all the chapters about the starvation period.
The first chapters were great as an introduction to Ukraine's history.
All in all I recommend reading this one, even though it is long. If it feels to long, just read the first chapters, and also one about the starvation period, then when they survived, and lastly the finishing chapter that ties everything together.
