Fitting finale to a great trilogy.
The story is coherent, characters interact with each other a lot, most questions are answered. On paper everything works, I had a good time, but it hasn't had the same impact as previous books.

The main reason - THE PACING.
Suddenly it felt off. In the first book we had this beautiful fast running sequence, where characters cannot sit for a moment.
In the second book things started slow, which was fitting for the place in the story, the "lifes after", but the build-up was on point. I liked everything about the ending. Kell's anger, Lila's grabbing her powers, cliffhanger *Chief's kiss*

So what happened here? It was too chaotic and not in positive way. Sitting in the castle dragged horribly, people were going in and out, talking, conducting some plans that didn't work. Theoretically, it was fine, but I was rapidly losing interest in the story. It definitely took me down from my high.

Later was this whole road trip. Not a fan, not a fan. It wasn't bad, but kind of wasn't matching the rest of the books. Why couldn't they use magic to go there? Lila's past stays undiscovered while Kell chooses not to remember his??? What a bullsh*t. After 2 books of winning how he wants to know his past? How unconvincing.

The book was missing my favorite elements, like moving between worlds and cool use of Antari's powers. Alucard and Lila lost their chemistry.

In hindsight, everything could have been better planned. I feel like betrayals were very anticlimactic. I would replace all those new side characters and intrigues with one but very well executed, painful betrayal. Of old priest maybe. In a crucial moment when stakes are the highest.

Some of the arcs felt uncomplete, like Delilah's and Holland's.

King's Maxime past was advertised towards his comics series, but it felt very last minute. Throughout the series I disliked him enough to not be interested in his story. It's free on Kindle Unlimited, so who knows, but he was two-dimensional character at best. Depth was missing.

Wow, it's quite a few things to dislike. But I am not lying, I really had a good time. I just wish things played out differently to preserve the magic of the previous books.
