Imogen, Obviously

Imogen, Obviously

Becky Albertalli

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

With humor and insight, #1 New York Times bestseller Becky Albertalli explores the nuances of sexuality, identity, and friendship. Imogen Scott may be hopelessly heterosexual, but she’s got the World’s Greatest Ally title locked down. She's never missed a Pride Alliance meeting. She knows more about queer media discourse than her very queer little sister. She even has two queer best friends. There's Gretchen, a fellow high school senior, who helps keep Imogen's biases in check. And then there's Lili—newly out and newly thriving with a cool new squad of queer college friends. Imogen's thrilled for Lili. Any ally would be. And now that she's finally visiting Lili on campus, she's bringing her ally A game. Any support Lili needs, Imogen's all in. Even if that means bending the truth, just a little. Like when Lili drops a tiny queer bombshell: she's told all her college friends that Imogen and Lili used to date. And none of them know that Imogen is a raging hetero—not even Lili’s best friend, Tessa. Of course, the more time Imogen spends with chaotic, freckle-faced Tessa, the more she starts to wonder if her truth was ever all that straight to begin with. . .

3.5 just because it was really YA. Which is no fault of the book just my own fault.

A great concept but I wish I would have had more closure at the end.

This book was 5 stars for me as all of Becky's Books are. CAWPILE Total: 9.43/10

Characters-10- Sometimes you read a book, and the characters are similar to you, and you can't help but enjoy every element of them and their friends. Imogen Obviously is filled with wonderful and delightful characters. Imogen was my favorite character, but I also really enjoyed: Tessa, Lilli, and Edith as characters.

Atmosphere-9- This book's college and small-town vibes are well done. Coming from a town similar to Penn Yan, reading this book was a lot like reading about my hometown on the page.

Writing- 10- I love Becky Albertalli's writing. I always love her style and I think it works so well for stories of this type.

Plot-9- I love love loved the story in Imogen, Obviously. I loved the journey and finding yourself, along with expressing who you are. This story also talks about some very real issues in the queer community and things that need to be talked about.

Intrigue-8- I was very intrigued by this book. I wanted to know how this story was going to go, and how this was going to end up.

Logic-10- This was a very logical story. I could see where the story was going.

Enjoyment-10- I loved this book! It was charming, and felt like a warm hug while reading.
