The newest edition is here. Another alternate cover can be found here. Emma Woodhouse is one of Austen's most captivating and vivid characters. Beautiful, spoilt, vain and irrepressibly witty, Emma organizes the lives of the inhabitants of her sleepy little village and plays matchmaker with devastating effect.

The bite of Austen's satire in this one is strong throughout except the ending which is, what some would call, 'a complete fluff piece'. Happy endings usually agree with me but in this case, these ridiculous characters who are written of which such good humoured exasperation didn't quite deserve the fairytale ending. But I guess Jane Austen found their faults and airs all very forgivable and their characters worthy of perfect contentment.. bleghh. XD
