As Primeiras Quinze Vidas de Harry August

As Primeiras Quinze Vidas de Harry August

Claire North

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Well, this took me a while. I'm so late for this review, I apologize.

The story of Harry August is a slow burner. I really enjoyed the historical events and depictions of a certain historical period. This was the strongest point of the book. I can tell the author took care into researching the events and the connection between things. It was also fascinating seeing the comparison between religions and life experiences.

I also enjoyed the concept of the kalachacras and I believe there is more to explore in this universe. There is still so much left on the air because the main focus was Harry August. Harry August was the protagonist this story deserved. I never imagined the turn the story was going to take and I was hooked on the last half of this book. That was absolutely amazing! The ending made me up the rating for five stars.

On the down side, the book is not for the fast readers. This is a book that takes its time to develop and it's quite dense, so if you don't like a slow action maybe skip this one.
Also, I felt that certain things weren't explored properly, some parts had potential and were rushed. Other were panned out more than they should. The balance was off, in my opinion, while I understood why after reaching the end. It might detract a bit from the experience as well.

Overall, a solid fantasy book. One of the best I've read, I enjoyed everything in it and I will pick up more book from this author. Five stars! If you like topics like immortality, reincarnation and you ponder about the meaning of life pick it up.
