Volume 15 of our bilingual series of eBooks (THE SONG OF MY CID ANNOTATED — EL CANTAR DE MIO CID COMENTADO) is provided as an aid for students (especially bi-lingual students) who are studying this famous epic poem of Spain. After presenting a brief history of the life of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar (the Cid), students can read various selections from the poem with explanations of difficult passages in both English and Spanish. Also included are a few photos taken by the author while following the Cid's trail from Vivar to Valencia and beyond during a recent trip to Spain. At the end of each chapter, students will find "Activities" that will enrich their understanding of the poem and "Questions" to be answered orally in the target language. Students could also prepare short written summaries of each chapter in the language they are learning and share them orally with the class or a friend. At the end of the book is a "Final Exam." This ebook is the 15th in a series of bilingual guides (English & Spanish) for teachers and students — each featuring an important topic in the field of history, literature or art of Spain and Latin America. Beginning students in either language can learn about their culture in their native language and advanced students can concentrate on the new language they want to learn. Why not learn a language and, at the same time, learn about its great culture by studying history, literature and art? These guides will be especially helpful for bilingual students who will learn to appreciate their history and background in either or both languages. Questions are included and can be used as notes to compose short presentations to promote connected speech rather than one or two word answers.
