A 460 page book sorta wanting to pick up around the 60% mark is wild
280+ pages…of what? I’ve read maybe ONE interesting chapter, a few details were revealed that I want to think might make for it picking up in the second half. Idk, could it be me?? I just feel the writing is off, the vibes, the romance, the so-called mystery, everything feels mid. Nothing is really landing for me, I’m not attached at all. For some reason I want to keep going tho, I’m holding on and hoping Ms. Runyx comes thru 🥹

Not a thing happened throughout this entire book. I didn’t feel connected to the characters at all, and didn’t even feel they were connected to each other either. The story moved SO so slow for 60% of the book, and at the end everything came together in the most predictable, unsurprising, uneventful way possible. Really wanted to like this book bc I’ve loved Ms. Runyx’s writing and dark atmospheres before but I’m sorry, this just didn’t do it for me.
