While this read started out full of clichés and promised to be 100% predictable, I thought it might still be fun to hear it play out. Who doesn’t love a good mountain man / remote cabin / forced-proximity / billionaire read? It has a lot going for it.
However, the writing isn’t very strong. I get the impression this author either has control issues, or just doesn’t have any faith that their readers don’t have functioning brains. Everything is repeated not just once or twice but over and over again. We get the character’s mindset and reason for everything—great. But then … we get it again and again and again. It makes the read very slow-paced. Rather than advancing the plot, so much of the internal dialogue is literally just repeatedly dumbing down points that have already been made.
Made for a pretty boring experience. Based on this read, would I read more from this author?
Probably not. I can do cliché and predictable, light reads are great for while I’m working. But this felt chock-full of mansplaining … just not my vibe.
If you like quick, steamy, trope-y romance though, you’ll probably enjoy it so don’t let my review chase you away. Just not my cup of tea.

Audio:
Absolutely perfect audio production.
High quality, and dual narrator, both of whom perform the book very well and sound great.
5 stars on this front.

Ugh. This book felt like white noise.
